About Cavemen

Cavemen is a platform puzzle game where the aim is to guide a tribe of cavemen through a level by solving the puzzle of how to get them safely from the entrance to the exit. On release it will be available for the Pocket PC and Windows Smartphone platforms, with a PC version to follow soon after.

When play begins the cavemen will emerge one by one from the entrance cave and begin walking through the level. Without interference they'll happily walk off cliffs, into lakes of lava, and into the mouths of waiting predators. So it's up to the player to keep the cavemen out of harm's way. To do this you have twelve different abilities that you can give to the cavemen that will help them bypass dangers and make it to the exit cave.

Cavemen moving through a simple level

Each level will have a different set of obstacles and a limited number of abilities available to you. The puzzle is in figuring out how to use those abilities to avoid all the obstacles and successfully complete the level.
 

Abilities

Blocker
These guys mean business. Once a caveman is turned into a blocker nobody gets past him, and any other cavemen that try just get turned around and sent back the way they came.

Digger
If you can't go over it, go under it! Diggers will dig a hole straight down through the dirt, so the cavemen can get down to a lower platform.

Tunneller
Sometimes the best way around a wall is just straight through it. Tunnellers will dig a hole straight through any dirt wall to get to the other side.

Burrower
A little bit digger and a little bit tunneller, the burrowers dig diagonally downwards to open up new paths.

Mountain Climber
These cliffhanging cavemen can scale straight up cliffs to reach dizzying new heights.
 

Parachutist
While most freefalling cavemen panic at the sight of the rapidly approaching ground, these skydivers just whip out their parachutes and float slowly down to safety.

Glider
If you can't go under it, fly over it! Whenever gliders reach a cliff they don't just fall to their doom like other cavemen, they pull out their hang-glider and jump into the air.

Jumper
Gaps in the ground aren't a challenge when you can just jump straight over them!
 

Thrower
These brave cavemen stay behind so they can help give their buddies a helping hand across big gaps or deadly pools.

Strongman
Obstacles that block the path of lesser cavemen are no match for the might of strongmen. If they find something like a tree blocking their path they'll just huff and puff and push it straight over.

Sling Shooter
Getting past dinosaurs is a lot easier with these armed cavemen. If a sling shooters aim is good, his stone will put the dino down for a nap.

Exploder
Sometimes you've got to take one for the team, and that's exactly what exploders do. When exploders go boom they take some of the surrounding dirt out with them, opening up new paths for the rest of the tribe to follow.

Obstacles

Terrain
The ground itself conspires against the cavemen. They must avoid lethal falls from tall cliffs and deadly dips in lava pools. They must also get past dirt walls blocking their path and slabs of stone that they simply can't dig through.

Deadly Traps
Any caveman walking underneath a giant Venus flytrap will find themselves the victim of this carnivorous herb's unquenchable appetite. It and other obstacles like it earn the name "deadly" every time a caveman comes near them, so it's best to stay far away.

Trees
These obstacles usually teeter on the edge of a cliff or pool, and just need a little push to send them crashing down to form a convenient bridge. Luckily for the cavemen they can be given the strongman ability to make them strong enough to knock these tress down.

Dinosaurs
Where you find cavemen you'll also find dinosaurs. These big brutes won't move out of the way willingly, but that's not a problem for a caveman with the sling-shot ability.

These presents give you extra abilities to help you beat the level, all you need to do is get one of your cavemen to pick them up!

Themes

Cavemen has three distinct visual themes - green fields, volcanic wasteland and Jurassic jungle - each with its own unique terrain and obstacles. As you progress through the game's levels you'll move from theme to theme and encounter new obstacles, exciting new visuals and more challenging puzzles. All of this means that Cavemen will stay an exciting and enjoyable adventure from start to finish.

Modding Support

Shortly after Cavemen is released we will polish up the level editor and release it for free, so that players can make their very own levels. The Cavemen level editor is easy to use and provides complete control over all the game's elements.

With the editor you will be able to make your own levels, create your own obstacles, and even change every single piece of game art. You can combine all of your creations to make your own campaigns, which could from start to finish be your own game that looks nothing like Cavemen!
